Ultra High Pressure (UHP) Blasting is an effective corrosion mitigation tool when traditional methods of corrosion removal are not powerful enough. MISTRAS’ solutions are safe, practical, and cost-efficient means of surface preparation, requiring minimal equipment setup, no need for containment, and no hazardous airborne materials.
While traditional UHP can only expose surface profiles where they already exist, MISTRAS’ UHP blasting solutions can also open up new profiles on rust blooms. This makes the corrosion removal and coating application process more effective.
MISTRAS also provides a UHP robotic blasting and recovery system. Through its vacuum recovery system, all spent water and paint chips are recovered during the blasting process, freeing the air from contaminants, and leaving the substrate ready for the immediate application of protective coatings. It operates on vertical surfaces and upside-down, with production rates as high as 500ft2 per hour. With no need for containment, other personnel are able to work side-by-side with the robotic UHP system, further eliminating downtime and safety hazards.
