Industrial service technicians clean assets and remove debris to ensure assets are operating safely and efficiently.

Operating on assets in the refining, exploration and production mining, and other process industries, MISTRAS eliminates accumulated mud, rust, scale, chemical, and old coatings before applying vacuum removal services.

Storage Tank, Vessel, and Heat Exchanger Cleaning Services

During cleaning, technicians will wash or rinse a stationary tank, reservoir, or other vessel to ensure that no debris or unnecessary material has contaminated its interior. During degassing, technicians remove and organic gases that have accumulated within a vessel.

MISTRAS expertly rids storage tanks and vessels of mud, rust, and corrosion through the use of traditional and advanced blasting techniques. We are leaders in utilizing Ultra High Pressure (UHP) blasting for accumulated build-up, and offer several forms of blasting services, including:

• Abrasive Blasting
• Baking Soda Blasting
• Cleaner/Greener Slurry Blasting
• Sandblasting

Our trained technicians also perform tank and vessel degassing and vapor control services.

When process- and water-born deposits collect in a heat exchanger’s tubes, it can limit the asset’s heat-transferring abilities, so MISTRAS expertly removes this build-up to ensure maximum efficiency, using high-pressure lancing and other cleaning techniques. These services are often performed in combination with an inspection, enabling MISTRAS to both discover and remove tube build-up in a single site visit.

Drain and Pipeline Clearing Services

Line flushing removes loose and foreign matter, residues, and any other lingering substances from the interior of pipelines to avoid blockages and prepare them for safe and environmentally-friendly removal. This can be done through mechanical or chemical practices.

MISTRAS clears drains, pipelines, and other assets than can get backed-up or clogged. Before pipelines are de-commissioned, MISTRAS performs mechanical or chemical line-flushing services to remove loose matter and substance residue. We also remove scale contaminants from inside drains and piping using manual and chemical glycol dehydration systems.

NORM Surveying

Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) is naturally-present in the earth, and can be brought to the surface through activities such as oil & gas exploration or mining. While health risks to the public are minimal, it is important to survey assets and areas in which this material can be found to ensure personnel safety.

MISTRAS employs Radiation Safety Officers (RSOs) to perform NORM surveys on:

• Tanks
• Vessels
• Offshore Rigs
• Mining Shafts and Pits
• Other assets in which radioactive material can be found.

NORM surveys are necessary for facilities in the downstream, upstream, chemical, pulp & paper, and many other industries to remain in compliance with regulatory standards, while also maximizing the safety of personnel and the environment.
