MISTRAS specializes in heat exchanger tube services for chillers, condensers, water tube boilers, and evaporators. We inspect and repair well over a million heat exchanger tubes a year, utilizing eddy current (ET), remote video, and ultrasonic (UT) nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques.

Heat Exchanger Tube Inspection Services

MISTRAS offers a wide range of heat exchanger tube inspection services to keep your equipment running like new, including multiple forms of eddy current testing, remote and near field testing, and our Internal Rotary Inspection System (IRIS).

Eddy Current (ET) Testing

ET is the predominant inspection technique for the alloy tubes. ET does not require the tubes to be as clean as some other techniques and is relatively fast. MISTRAS’ tube inspection specialists utilize the latest ET technology along with an electronic reporting format that allows for quick analysis and generation of tube sheet drawings and results in an easy to read template.

We also offer solutions for inspections of Twisted Tube heat exchangers, including inspection of non-ferromagnetic tubing (such as stainless, brass, titanium and other materials), distinguishing between I.D. and O.D. defect orientation, and determining if defects are located in the outer crest or lower dip of the twisted tube.

Our other Eddy Current testing techniques include:

We manufacture high-performance tubes for the heat exchanger industry. We stock prime surface tubing in several alloys, wall thicknesses, and diameters. We can produce integral fin tubes from the following materials:

  • Stainless Steel Type 304L, 316
  • Cupro-Nickel 95/5, 90/10, 70/30
