PdM COE - Field Balancing Services
MISTRAS Services performs precision balancing of many rotors in the field at your plant site saving you from removing the rotor and shipping it to a balance shop, thereby saving labor and downtime costs. This is of primary importance when they are large rotors like ID and FD Fans, or even smaller fans where constant environmental control is required and the units can't be down for long periods.
Also precision field balancing minimizes the vibration in the bearings, which in turn minimizes bearing wear and increases bearing life and machine reliability.
MISTRAS utilizes state of the art instruments and programs to perform both single and two-plane field balancing depending on rotor size, speed, and other dynamics to obtain precision tolerances. The balancing process involves recording initial vibration amplitude and phase data which confirms the imbalance. Trial weights are placed on the rotor and data is recorded again. Using a vector program the proper weight and position is calculated which is placed permanently on the rotor to compensate for the unbalance. The unit is usually back in service in a couple hours and operating better than ever! |
