Nital etching

Nital etch is the ideal form of chemical etching for componentry that may undergo intense heat stress in environments with extreme temperatures. With this form of etching, nitric acid is placed on the metal, revealing damage by coloring defected areas a different, darker color than non-damaged section of the surface.

Macro etching

This inspection service is used to identify potential grain structure (metallurgical) defects that require further investigation, and by identifying these issues early in the inspection process, this helps to eliminate frustrating and potentially costly delays.

Pre-penetrant macro-etch testing

This lab testing service is ideally used to remove smeared metal due to machining and is intended to open up potential flaws before a penetrant inspection is performed.
