Princeton Junction, NJ – June, 2016 – MISTRAS Group, Inc. (NYSE: MG) employees assigned to the Shell Martinez Oil Refinery in Martinez, California, have collectively accrued 19 consecutive years of zero recordable injuries.

“I’m happy to once again report that this ongoing accomplishment of zero recordable injuries at the Shell Martinez Refinery has been achieved. This is a continued example of what can be accomplished when employees are sold on the core value of “safety” being the group’s perpetual focus day in and day out,” said Mike Price, General Manager of the MISTRAS Services division located in Benicia, CA. “This has been a long journey, passed down from one generation to another, and the torch is still burning brightly.”

MISTRAS and the Shell Martinez Refinery have formed a cohesive and long-standing relationship, fostering a complementary safety culture and training process. Before inspection work can begin, Shell Martinez requires each MISTRAS technician to attend Shell’s “Goal Zero” safety program, supplementing MISTRAS’ extensive mandatory industry and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety and certification programs. MISTRAS also mandates that each technician adheres to on-site safety protocols and checklists, designed to help technicians recognize and prevent hazardous situations from occurring.

“For 19 years, Shell has been leading the way and helping us to accomplish this amazing industrial record on their jobsite,” said Chris Smith, Group Vice President, Corporate Compliance. “Safety is tantamount in every part of Shell’s decision-making and working processes at Martinez. Their “Goal Zero” culture is passed on to our team, and we’ve obviously caught the message and fully understand it.”
