) kicked off 2011 with their annual Services & General Managers Strategic meeting on January 14th through the 17th held in the auditorium at MG headquarters in Princeton Junction, NJ. The meeting was attended by 80 + of the company's worldwide field and corporate managers. The theme for this year's meeting was Strategies for the future; productivity tools for a cost conscious asset protection solutions market.
Dr. Sotirios Vahaviolos, Chairman & CEO, opened up the meetings with his warm welcome remarks and congratulations to the team for the 1st half results and the achievements behind them. He then followed with a detailed presentation on the state of the business and reemphasized our commitment to safety and technology and our strategy for continued revenue and profit growth that creates shareholder value.
This year's meeting included a significant amount of group interaction that focused on key topics including business process, safety, and customer satisfaction improvements. The meetings included a strong focus on our Centers of Excellence (COE's), introducing the value that each of these highly skilled units provides to our customers as independent solutions or when combined to produce a Value Added Service Package (VASP) brining even greater value in the form of improved safety, reliability, and availability - the key challenges facing our customers every day. Additional topics included service applications for other strategic markets including nuclear & fossil power generation, transmission, alternative energy, aerospace and the midstream and upstream segments of oil & gas as well as our growing and comprehensive "in house" inspection capabilities that now encompass four national locations servicing major end users and OEMs in the aerospace and specialty composite and metals markets.
In addition, a session was held that provided insight into the Mistras strategic planning process and our five year strategic growth plans that created the opportunity for the group to interact and support its implementation going forward.
During the evening sessions all the attendees had the opportunity to tour the vast products & systems demonstration areas supported by MISTRAS' product and application specialists and explore several â€œnicheâ€ products and software in support of the MISTRASâ€™ service sector.
During the meeting, attendees took time to acknowledge Ron Citarell, General Manager of the Springfield, MA lab and most recently Hartford, CT, on his retirement after 37 years with the company. Ron has had an exciting and progressive career in NDT, working his way from an assistant, to radiographer, to General Manager, managing shop work business mainly in the regions Aerospace market. As a dedicated and committed member of the MISTRAS team, he was presented with a certificate of appreciation along with travel and hotel accommodation vouchers for two anywhere in the United States to help celebrate.
