Princeton Junction, NJ – May, 2010 – MISTRAS Group, Inc. (NYSE: MG) announces the receipt of the Silver Safety Award for the Specialty Contractor Technical Support Small category, given to MISTRAS Service employees at the annual Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) banquet. With 23 different contractors in the category for Specialty Contractor Technical Support, MISTRAS came out on top after an extensive evaluation was done by HBR on the exemplary safety policies and procedures implemented by MISTRAS employees at the BP Texas City facility. “We were up against some of the biggest players in the industry for this category,” said Geoffrey Bottego, Gulf Coast Regional Safety Manager for MISTRAS Services. “The selection process is a comprehensive and tedious time and knowing we did our best to get where we are is truly a distinction in itself.” Over a five month timeframe, HBR audits a variety of contract companies that perform similar work in the Houston region. The audit process is an opportunity for safety professionals to review all elements of a company’s safety department and then grade the program against other contract companies in a particular category. “Every one of our employees working at the BP facility had a part in making this happen,” said Bottego. “At MISTRAS we pride ourselves on our safety records and performance; therefore, to be acknowledged by an organization of this caliber gives us the confidence to keep striving to be the best and continue to work towards bigger goals.” MISTRAS became an associate member of HBR in 2009 and over the past year has continued to grow within the organization. This is the second Silver Safety Award earned by the organization. “I am proud of the efforts the Texas City staff made to even be considered for such an esteemed award and while the award is a significant accomplishment their safety record is even more impressive,” said Chris Smith, Group Corporate Compliance Officer for MISTRAS. “Through efforts like this we will continue to drive home the importance that MISTRAS places on safety. I look forward to their continued success and pursuit of constant improvement.” |
