Princeton Junction, NJ – April 2008 – MISTRAS Group Inc. announced that CONAM Inspection and Engineering Services has been presented with the “Large Contractor of the Year Award,” for their safety record at the Shell Martinez Refinery in Martinez, Calif. With over 11 years without a “recordable injury,” the continued commitment and involvement by CONAM employees at the refinery has earned the company this award.
“This is another outstanding achievement by all the CONAM employees working at this Shell location,” said Mike Price, General Manager of CONAM’s Benicia, Calif., office. “CONAM employees perform all kinds of non-destructive testing and inspection activities at the Shell Martinez Refinery. You can’t ask any more of your employees than to do the job right, but most importantly, do the job safely.”
CONAM was selected over two other nominees in the “large contractor” category. This marks the third time in the last 10 years they have received this prestigious award for their outstanding safety performance at the refinery.
“This is a significant accomplishment when you consider the work that is being done by CONAM at this site. This includes thousands of man hours supporting Turnaround activities, gathering data from scaffolds and confined space entries in addition to their routine daily support,” said Johnny Morales, Supervisor of the Shell Inspection Department. “CONAM’s ability to transfer the safety culture and knowledge to the incoming employees has been a major contributor to their continued success. We (Shell) have personally thanked every CONAM employee for their continued involvement and leadership in promoting our strong safety culture.”
