MISTRAS Group’s Düsseldorf – Germany branch combines a wide range of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods with vast experience in materials selection and engineering to provide customers with comprehensive information on their materials' properties and potential defects. With non-destructive material tests, our technicians test raw material of componentry during production and the particles after installation in technical constructions. Our inspection specialists are qualified up to Level III according to DIN EN ISO 4179 and examine test objects in their entire cross-section to determine the location, shape, and extent of possible defects with state-of-the-art techniques. Our team uses X-rays and gamma rays, ultrasound, propagating eddy current (EC) methods, magnetic flux leakage (MFL), or employ penetrants. At the Düsseldorf site, 3 X-ray bunkers are used for radiographic testing (RT). All procedures in our NDT portfolio are standardized and performed according to established guidelines.
Advanced non-destructive testing (ANDT) uses the latest inspection technologies and equipment to provide fast, accurate, and detailed data regarding the integrity of test objects. ANDT offers a uniquely high probability of defect detection. We perform special techniques in acoustic emission (AE) testing and mechanized ultrasonic testing (UT). Before a shutdown or during an overhaul, a qualitative evaluation is carried out. The results allow only selected areas to be localized as critical and thus subjected to downstream conventional NDT. The branch also conducts research & development and offers monitoring of production and machinery in facilities. The branch helps companies to ensure the high-performance of their facilities and helps to save costs. Some of the typical applications of ANDT methods include the inspection and detection of corrosion, cracking, corrosion under insulation (CUI), hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC), high-temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA), and weld seam defects.
