This course deals directly with the Direct Method of Visual Inspection of welds per requirements of ASME
Section V, Article 9. Although the emphasis is on the Direct Method, Remote Method is also discussed as well, since some pipe weld inside diameters require the use of such tooling. The principles of Direct visual viewing of welds, such as proper lighting and angles of light, the various weld measurement and profiling tools used, weld types, weld processes, welding symbols per AWS
A-5 used on drawings, pre-weld tests and post-weld tests, anything and everything a Visual Weld inspector to successfully examine a weld and evaluate it to the ASME
requirements. Hands-on portion of training will involve actual welds for weld examination tool exercises and critique.
This is a 3 day, 24 hour training and will qualify a visual technician to Level II.
