MISTRAS Group, Inc. Learn Centers provide training and course exams to assure successful transfer of knowledge and skills. Individual certifications are employer provided if SNT-TC-1A based or third party central certification provided if ISO-9712/EN473 based certifications are desired.

MISTRAS Services can provide Outside agency NDT Level III services if desired to assist customers to develop their own in-house certification program. Please see the Mistras Services list for a laboratory nearest you.

AE HIGH-TECH WEEK

Duration: Up to 5 Days
Cost: $450 Per Day or $1400 Full Week (Discounted Rate)

This AE training course is devoted to the high end of AE technology. In this course we aim to understand the AE signal and the signal-forming process. This understanding leads to exciting technological possibilities. The same signal-forming processes that once limited this technology can today be used to our advantage.

This course is intended to provide the advanced user or would-be user with a scientific understanding of the information conveyed in the classic AE features, along with insights and tools that will help to use them more effectively.

This course comprises three modules. Enrollment in one, two or all three modules is invited, up to a total of five days as follows:
  • Module 1 - Monday & Tuesday, 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.
    • Wave Propagation: It's Role in Signal
    • Formation and Its Implications for AE Technology

Wave propagation processes have a critical affect on AE signals and all the measured values derived from them. Most often, these processes are outside the control of the researcher or inspector. The first module of the course shows how to work with these effects instead of being confused by them.

  • Module 2 - Wednesday, 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.
Signal Features: Their Inter-Relationships and Dependence on Source Mechanism and Other Factors

A new program discussing the theoretical relationships between the conventional signal features for various waveform models; it will be shown how this leads to practical techniques for source identification as well as pre-processing techniques for pattern recognition.

  • Module 3 - Thursday & Friday, 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.
Classification of AE Signals and Sources Using NOESIS Pattern Recognition Software.

NOESIS is the premier software package for advanced AE data analysis. The user can explore the natural relationships within the data space, using techniques such as principal co-ordinate analysis and supervised and unsupervised pattern recognition. Much more than AEwin, NOESIS can be used to distinguish mechanisms, to separate genuine AE from noise, and to perform real-time trending in the presence of noise.

Modules available separately, in combination (any two modules), or entire course (all modules). Prices include lunches and documentation of results.
