PdM COE - Lube Oil & Grease Analysis

MISTRAS PdM Services performs lubrication sampling and analysis for our Clients making use of another excellent Predictive Technology for monitoring the wear condition of machines and components (bearings, gears, seals, etc.).

Oil analysis reports show how much foreign material is present in the lubricant and whether it's water, dirt, or other particulates (iron, copper, silicon, etc.) which points to the worn component.

Of course one result of oil and grease analysis is trending the condition of the lubricant itself to determine when it needs to be changed. This alone saves money compared to replacing oil based on run time, since often the oil is still in good condition. This is especially important with large gearboxes containing many gallons of oil. MISTRAS combines this powerful tool with other technologies, such as vibration analysis, to provide our clients with a complete PdM Program for not only trending the health of your machinery over time, but also determining the cause of problems as they arise, therefore improving your maintenance planning, both parts and manpower scheduling.
