TOUCH POINT CORROSION INSPECTION SERVICES

MISTRAS has developed a unique inspection methodology utilizing the Pocket UT system along with visual inspection and Guided Ultrasonic Long Range inspection for the analysis of Touch Point Corrosion concerns. These TPC areas occur where a pipe rests on another pipe or support, thereby creating a preferential corrosion area which is impossible to inspect without lifting the pipe. The disadvantages of this are obvious including potential safety and environmental issues. The MISTRAS program allows us to pinpoint the areas of potential concern using the Guided Wave inspection and then produces a relative pipe condition presented in percentage of pipe wall loss using our preferential Touch Point Corrosion ultrasonic approach.
