Princeton Junction, NJ - April, 2010
- MISTRAS Group, Inc. is proud to announce, as of March 27th 2010, MISTRAS Service employees have worked over 750,000 man-hours and have gone 13 years without a Recordable Injury at the Shell Martinez Refinery, located in Martinez, California.
"To work this many man-hours in a refinery facility without a Recordable Injury is a testament to our company's continued commitment to safety," said Mike Price, General Manager for the San Francisco lab of MISTRAS Services. "All the MISTRAS employees who have worked at this location during the last 13 years have significantly contributed to this amazing safety record and I personally want to thank each of them for their unwavering dedication to safety at this particular jobsite. Keeping all our employees focused on the job at hand without compromising safety is a key ingredient to our continued success."
Backed with a crew of dedicated and motivated employees, MISTRAS continues to prove their commitment to safety, receiving numerous awards each year for their accomplishments.
"You have to have focused employees who are not afraid of mentoring others in the Shell/MISTRAS safety culture. If our employees see someone not doing a job correctly, they get involved. They even stop a job if necessary and always bring any potential for injury to a Supervisor or Manager's immediate attention. It works and our continued outstanding safety record
proves it," said Jim Gard the MISTRAS Project Manager at the Shell Martinez Refinery. “Refineries can be very dangerous and very unforgiving places when it comes to potential injuries. My guys are constantly working at heights, in confined spaces and around very hot piping and they do all this on a daily basis without getting hurt. It's just a phenomenal thing to see."
MISTRAS has worked at this facility for 16 years and has been awarded the Shell "Eagle Award" for Excellence in Safety three times.
